What’s Usually NOT Included in an End of Lease Clean

Some items are typically quoted separately — confirm before booking:

  • Carpet steam cleaning — usually required by leases and quoted as an add-on
  • Exterior window cleaning — access equipment required, often extra
  • Wall washing — full repaint may be needed for heavy marks
  • Pest control — often required separately if pets were in the property
  • Garden maintenance — mowing, weeding — this is grounds maintenance, not cleaning

Tips to Pass Your Final Inspection First Time

  • Book early — don’t leave the clean until the night before. Give yourself a buffer day in case anything needs touching up.
  • Check your original condition report — agents compare the property’s current state against the condition at the start of your tenancy
  • Defrost the freezer — do this the day before so the cleaner doesn’t have to wait
  • Move all furniture and belongings out first — cleaners can’t clean under items that are still there
  • Book carpet steam cleaning separately — most leases require it and it needs to dry before the inspection
  • Get a receipt — agents may ask for proof that professional cleaning was done
